Haloween Special!

Here at Philippines, tomorow will be Haloween. Here at Philippines, we don't trick or treat on any houses but at our parents offices'. We trick or treat at my parents offices' since 4 yrs. old until now I am 10. Now I don't like to costume because I think it is just for kids and we are not any more kids. But I still love the giving away of candies and chocolates. On TV shows, there are haloween specials like they decorate their studios with creepy stuffs and talking about ghost and ghost sightings. It really creep me out when I watch those shows(even tho I'd like to watch it.) My Haloween wish this year is to let my favorite cousins nearby with me having fun this haloween. I really wish they would come home this month and trough christmas.

No classes

Today we have no classes because all teachers at our school has a retreat. Some students at these days likes holidays and cancelled classes because we students hate classes except those nerds.

Today even tho we have no classes it is raining. And I even realize that having no classes is boring either because we get to be the maid of the house. We get to do clean there, get this and those but at school you just sit and think, listen to the teacher and recess.

So the best thing I like is having class. You get to learn there...but summer or holidays is fun either because you may get family bonding, you can go to the beach or the mall. You make the choice want you want best having classes or no classes.

A Mothers appreciation

My parents always urge us together with my sister to practice our music instrument every time we got back from school. I can play piano and flute while my sister can play piano, flute and violin. We both started to study music when we were just 3 years old. But my sister has learned more instruments than me because of her interests.

Actually I am also interested to learn but not that much. So my mother is very happy every time we accomplish 1 music piece yet my father don't appreciate. I like my mother specially when my father tells us that we are not improving because every time we practice, its just the old pieces that we play. So my mother will reply back to him and say "that is why we call it practice". My mother always defends us every time our father say something negative about how we play our instruments. She always appreciates what we have done even its a little accomplishment we make to boost our egos and do more next time.

I won a COMPAQ

Ever since I learned to use computer with internet (because computers without internet now a days are somewhat seem useless) I started of dreaming to have a computer of my own. So every now and then I turn to my mom and said please buy me my own computer. Although I know it's hard to buy one just for own personal use because I know the amount is not that cheaper but I tried telling my parents.

All of a sudden my mother speak and said, OK here's a deal. "If this school year you became an officer of the class, not just an officer but the highest position, we'll give you a computer". As I have said on my previous post, I am also in the top of my class and I am not an ordinary student who aims just to get 80 or just to pass is its OK already. Although in my mind, how can I get that highest position as a president of the class.

The there came a time that the classes already started and after several weeks of entering school, comes the nomination of classroom officers. And eventually, I was elected as one of the officers of the class but do you know what position I got? President! hahaha, Yes. I said to myself in an instant I have a computer of my own.

So when I got home, I told my father "Dad, I am the president of our class" and you know whats his reaction? "weh! hindi nga", "hmm, are you sure? I will ask your Ate or your classmates if its true". It seems they don't believe me now that I am the president. Well maybe the truth is, now that I am, they don't have the money to buy me a new laptop or computer. But I understand, its OK if they cannot give it to me this time I can still wait the right time when. My dad called my mom in her office and tell her the news about our deal and they both laugh out loud on the phone maybe because they are scared how are they gonna get me my new laptop.

Unfortunately, I did not get a new laptop but instead my dad gave me his first personal laptop its a COMPAQ V2000 (with 1.8Ghz Intel Centrino, 1G memory, 80GB HDD, Wifi, Bluetooth, Firewire, etc. not bad after all) and said, "you can have my laptop instead Bam and we hope you like it and understand that at this point in time, we don't have enough money to buy you a new one", "this COMPAQ is good so I guess and we hope you will be happy". Although this is kinda old and big because its still 14" but I accepted it anyway and thank them.

Here's a sample picture of my laptop:

Time of Disappointment

In our class, I can say that I am not an average student. Most of my years I always earn incentives because of my high grades performances. So every quarter it's normal for me and to my parents to expect a certificate the school will give me because I am in Achievers Lists.

But my performance early this school year almost gave my parents disappointed. I know what I have done during the past quarter in our class. And I don't know why at this point in time in our class, most of the achievers really have a hard time in dealing with our subjects specially Math and Science which is the reason why I almost not included in the list.

My parents were called by my Math and Science teacher to come to school and talk to talk about what's happening to my performance for the last few months. So the parents of my classmates come to. And when they are there, they are talking what seems to be the problem why they are called to come. "Maybe my child is in Achievers List again", said other parents. But when teachers started to talk, it's on the opposite expectation. Until the teacher said, "I guess we need to talk one by one so I can explain it clearly, while others please step outside and wait for your turn".

To make the long story short, I still got my "Achievers List" certificate which I know I will have it because I know my performance. Maybe this time, I will minimized my playing online games in Facebook and computer because this makes me forget to study and exercise my homework when I am back at home.

My point is, "Give extra time to those subjects that are giving you extra hard time".

My annual visitor

Here in Manila, we only have two seasons. We have hot & cold, wet & dry or summer and rainy season, whatever. But every time this season comes, this friend of mine I call it friend because it visits me every year and I hate it very much. But I remember my parents hear them say that I have completed my vaccines when I was just a baby.

After I got back from school, it started off just as a sore throat. So I bought strepsils thinking this might prevent the on-going process but did not. Then the next day I woke up in fever, feeling so weak, headache, dizzy, no energy at all. I got FLU. And one thing we noticed in our community, neighbors have also. You can hear coughing and even the medicine at the drug store became out of stock.

After the fever is gone, here comes the sweating...all my towels and t-shirts will be piled up just because of sweat. Imagine my back becomes reddish because of wiping out sweat so many many times...then I feel pain. Good thing there's internet where I can research for cure or if there's no cure at least a soothing words to calm me down.

According to the article I read, the whole way to get rid of the flu is to sweat it out. Get lots of sleep, lots of water, wear flannel pajamas and stay in bed. In other words REST. Just follow the advise, in three days and you'll be fine. Stay at home in 3 days, to really get the flu out of my system. I still had a head-cold for a week, but the flu was gone.

Let's talk about the Registry

What is the Registry?

The Registry is a database used to store settings and options for the 32 bit versions of Microsoft Windows including Windows 95, 98, ME and NT/2000. It contains information and settings for all the hardware, software, users, and preferences of the PC. Whenever a user makes changes to a Control Panel settings, or File Associations, System Policies, or installed software, the changes are reflected and stored in the Registry.

The physical files that make up the registry are stored differently depending on your version of Windows; under Windows 95 & 98 it is contained in two hidden files in your Windows directory, called USER.DAT and SYSTEM.DAT, for Windows Me there is an additional CLASSES.DAT file, while under Windows NT/2000 the files are contained seperately in the %SystemRoot%\System32\Config directory. You can not edit these files directly, you must use a tool commonly known as a "Registry Editor" to make any changes (using registry editors will be discussed later in the article).

When Good Discs Go Bad

Ever wonder what makes a disc bad? Here's why they vary in quality, and why you should worry about the discs you've entrusted with your data.

Melissa J. Perenson, PC World

Burning CDs and DVDs is the easy part.

Knowing your data will be there when you go back to it days, months, or even years later--well, that's a bit harder. Not all discs are created equal, as Fred Byers, information technology specialist at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, can attest.

Byers is part of a team heading up an independent study of DVD media quality. Based on the first wave of testing results, the situation is murky at best.

"We've found the quality varies, depending upon the type of dye used to make the write-once discs and [on the] the manufacturer," reports Byers. Even discs from the same manufacturer, with the same brand, can test differently, Byers adds. "But there was more of a significant difference when you compared discs between manufacturers," he explains.

Why is my bandwidth limited?

This is a very useful information because lots of new comers don't know what are bandwidth specially when they host the websites to small enterprise web hosting companies.

BandWidth Explained

Most hosting companies offer a variety of bandwidth options in their plans. So exactly what is bandwidth as it relates to web hosting? Put simply, bandwidth is the amount of traffic that is allowed to occur between your web site and the rest of the internet. The amount of bandwidth a hosting company can provide is determined by their network connections, both internal to their data center and external to the public internet.

Basic Guide Using Internet

The Internet is a computer network made up of thousands of networks worldwide. No one knows exactly how many computers are connected to the Internet. It is certain, however, that these number in the millions.

No one is in charge of the Internet. There are organizations which develop technical aspects of this network and set standards for creating applications on it, but no governing body is in control. The Internet backbone, through which Internet traffic flows, is owned by private companies.

All computers on the Internet communicate with one another using the Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol suite, abbreviated to TCP/IP. Computers on the Internet use a client/server architecture. This means that the remote server machine provides files and services to the user's local client machine. Software can be installed on a client computer to take advantage of the latest access technology.
